Welcome to Green Boutique! Here are Kristen Suzanne's favorite items!
The FoodSaver is truly one of the best additions to my vegan kitchen ever. With a FoodSaver I can add shelf life to my foods, saving me time, and helping to reduce waste. One of my favorite things to freeze is peeled bananas. Using a food saver ensures that they freeze without freezer burn! After you buy your FoodSaver, hop over to FoodSaver’s website and buy the “mason jar attachment” so you can use it with your glass mason jars.
Using glass mason jars is a GREAT way to make your life a little more green. Glass is better for the environment and for your health (no toxic BPAs there!). I use glass mason jars of all sizes to grow sprouts, drink smoothies and water, store sauces, sauerkraut, dressings, and to keep all of the goodies I buy in bulk such as hemp seeds, chia seeds, nuts, dried fruits, grains, and so much more (as you can see from the picture, this is a glimpse into one of my freezers). You can even use glass mason jars with the Food Saver machine to keep your foods extra fresh (you need the mason jar attachment from Food Saver for this).
When I’m using my tiffins I make sure to bring my own bamboo flatware, too. And, these are so adorable with their little carrying case made from recycled plastic bottles. Not to mention bamboo is a sustainable material. These scream eco-friendly all around. I love giving these to people as gifts and stocking stuffers. They’re just too cute (and the carrying cases are available in different colors. My husband has the black and I have the orange)!
To make my tiffins extra chic, I found these awesome “3- tier” tiffin carrying bags so they’re easy to transport. I love showing off my tiffin in a tiffin carrying bag. The carrying bag is woven from recycled materials and made with Fair Trade Principles. Cool, huh? Note: These tiffin carrying bags are made by the company “To-Go Ware” (the links here take you to Amazon to purchase), and they make two sizes of tiffins and two sizes of carrying bags. Be sure you get the “3-tier tiffin with the 3-tier tiffin carrying bag” or get the “2-tier tiffin with the 2-tier tiffin carrying bag.”
I love tiffins! These travel containers are great for toting my food around. Sometimes I pack a vibrant kale salad in one tier and another tier with goji berries and nuts. Sometimes I toss a protein bar in one tier while another tier is filled with carrot and celery sticks. Other times I pack organic quinoa in one tier with another tier carrying a raw vegan dessert. I’m definitely NOT a plastic girl so you won’t see me using that stuff. And, while I love glass, I’d rather get my workouts at the gym and not from lifting my lunch bag. These tiffins are awesome. Pictured here is the 2-tier tiffin. You can also buy a 3-tier tiffin here. Read More »
Chia Seeds – The Chia Seed is an amazing food. I use them in my shakes frequently because they’re so nutritious and they make my shakes and smoothies deliciously thick and filling. Chia seeds rock the house. Read my post at Kristen’s Raw about chia here, the“Dieter’s Dream Food.” Chia seeds are being praised for many things including their fantastic nutrient profile, which proudly boasts iron, boron, essential fatty acids, fiber, and more. Add to that the claims that they Read More »
Sun Warrior Protein Powder – Another protein powder regularly consumed in our household is sprouted, raw vegan, brown rice protein powder. For this we buy Sun Warrior’s brand. This has a high protein content, and according to Sun Warrior, their brown rice protein is actually complete (they told me: Most rice proteins in the past used white polished rice. We’ve taken organic whole grain brown rice with the bran and the endosperm layers which raise the amino acid profile to make a complete protein. It’s bio-fermented with natural enzymes (no heat), stripping down the carbohydrate and sugar content, leaving 85% bio-available protein.) Read More »
Hemp Protein Powder – This a big part of my diet, especially during my pregnancy. It’s an amazing source of plant-strong protein. I would have to say that my favorite protein powder for taste is plain ol’ Hemp Protein Powder. I like it because it doesn’t actually have much taste to it. Some say it has a likable “nutty” flavor. It’s a wonderful source of complete protein and fiber. If there was a downside of hemp protein powder, I’d say it’s the texture. It’s gritty, like sand. For this reason, I’m not a huge fan of just having it plain with water (which I do prefer with some other protein powders such as Sun Warrior’s Sprouted Brown Rice Protein). In general, the way I overcome the grit-factor Read More »
Hemp Seeds – Hemp is commonly referred to as a “superfood” because of its amazing nutritional value. Its amino acid profile dominates with the 8 essential amino acids (10 if you’re elderly or a baby), making it a vegetarian source of “complete” protein! Manitoba Harvest is my favorite source for hemp products, and I always stock up when I buy their hemp seeds because they’re a staple in my family’s diet. I use their hemp seeds, hemp butter, protein powder and oil to make many delicious raw vegan recipes all the time… Read More »
Amazing Grass Organic Wheat Grass Powder, 8.5-Ounce Canister Wheat grass is an important part of my diet. But, I’ll be honest… I sometimes just cannot stomach the fresh kind (the smell alone can make my stomach turn). So, I keep a supply of Amazing Grass’ powdered wheat grass in my freezer all the time. It’s easy to mix and much easier for me to tolerate than the fresh stuff. Don’t get me wrong though, I still go hardcore and drink the fresh stuff from time to time – haha – but for the most part I drink the powdered version of Amazing Grass, which is very impressive! Here’s a fun and uber healthy recipe you can use… Read More »
RAW Protein – Garden of Life – I like rotating this protein powder into our raw vegan protein shake cycles because it contains a notable blend of proteins that I don’t get in my diet in general (at least not on a regular basis). For instance, it has: (all organic) sprouted brown rice protein, amaranth sprout, quinoa sprout, millet sprout, buckwheat sprout, garbanzo bean sprout, kidney bean sprout, lentil sprout, adzuki bean sprout, flax seed sprout, sunflower seed sprout, pumpkin seed sprout, Read More »
Maca Powder – Organic Raw Superfood, 16-Ounce – It’s true, I’m not the hugest fan of maca (it kind of smells like feet to me – haha) but this is one of the most popular superfoods among Raw vegans. It’s noted for giving you tons of energy and increased stamina for exercise, long days, and your libido! Here’s a recipe where I actually couldn’t taste it very much, so quite enjoyable… Read More »
Fruits of the Earth 360 grams – Get ready for some extra sassy smoothies, or just use this to create the most nutritious water you’ve ever had! It’s a phenomenal potent combination of nature’s most nutritive fruits from around the world. Your smoothies (or just plain water) will never be the same. My husband loves having this in his Raw Vegan Protein Grenades, too!
Vitamineral Green 16 oz. - My all time FAVORITE green powder. Yowza – this stuff is potent! Vitamineral Green comes from a highly reputable company and it’s a must have in every kitchen cupboard. I include a tablespoon of this amazing nutrition in my life almost daily for my family. By far, this is the most effective green powder on the market that I’ve tried. My husband loves when I put in his Raw Vegan Protein Grenades.
Organic Raw Vegan White Cacao Butter – 1 Pound – Talk about decadent! This organic raw cacao butter is the stuff that dreams are made of. If you want to make the most impressive and delicious raw vegan cheesecakes, chocolates, and desserts, then you have to buy this. And, don’t stop at making food that you eat using your mouth with this wonderful product… your skin can eat it, too – this makes a wonderful, all natural moisturizer! Gently make it a liquid using a dehydrator or a double boiler and rub onto your body after your next shower.
Organic Raw Vegan Cacao Chocolate Nibs – 1 Pound – Throw in your DVD of Apocalypto, dress up like a Mayan Princess, and grind your own chocolate in the original fashion using a stone mortar. (Ok, truth be told, I do it in 1/1000 the time with a coffee bean grinder wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but it’s fun to pretend!) These are perfect for adding texture and crunch to your Raw vegan smoothies, nut milks, ice creams and so much more. For fantastically delicious and healthy Raw vegan chocolate, check out my book (also available in ebook format), Kristen Suzanne’s Ultimate Raw Vegan Chocolate Recipes.
Organic Raw Vegan Chocolate Powder – 16 Ozs. – This stuff is a-freakin’-mazing. The best Raw chocolate powder for all of your chocolate needs. It will change your life. There should be a bag of this in everyone’s household. Check out my blog, Kristen’s Raw Blog, for a great recipe (with video) using this ingredient: Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shake.
